November 9, 2022 (Jack87 News) – The achievement of qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Brazil 2014 World Cup eight years ago was still fresh in the memories of the Costa Ricans. Alongside Navas and Campbell, they can also count on the brilliance of Luis Fernando Suarez, veteran Bryan Ruiz, center Anthony Contreras, midfielder Celso Borges, and defender Oscar Duarte.

At the World Cup, Costa Rica has played 18 matches, with five winnings, five draws, eight losses, having nineteen goals and conceding 28 goals. Their national team’s best performance happened in Brazil during the 2014 World Cup. They reached the quarterfinals, leading the group which also included Uruguay, Italy and England, before defeating Greece on penalties in the round of sixteen, and then losing on penalties to the Netherlands.
