“A player would never risk not being in the World Cup. The injury is not that serious. I’m happy for the player,” Conte told reporters ahead of Wednesday’s league game against Manchester United.

“He’s going through a scan, an MRI, and then we’ll see how long it takes him to recover. But for sure, thai boda8 against Manchester United, he won’t be able to play… I hope he’ll be with us before the World Cup. Play other games together.”

“The medical department is trying to get him to recover, but at the same time in some cases you have to take it slowly, not speed up the process. Sometimes, if you do, it gets worse,” the Italian said.

Conte says he wants to stick to his preferred 3-4-3 formation despite Charlieson’s injury against Eric 10 Hager’s side, who clashed with Harry Kay at home to Everton Eun and Son Heung-min fought side by side.

“We have another training session to decide. I prefer a 3-4-3, but we’ll see. In my mind, we’ve done a lot of work on this system,” he added.

“Lucas Moura is coming back from injury, (Brian) Gill is improving and then I have Ivan Perisic who can play like a striker.”
